Abi Black is a Greater Manchester based artist and photographer. In recent work, Black enriches her relationship with places that she calls home via the art of wondering, without fear of retracing steps or taking new turns.
Black is engrossed by what exists between the defined structures of the street. Caturing the tension between contrasting articles: how they layer and decay over time.
Black utilises domestic materials and forms, iterating her exploration of home. She wishes to generate a greater sense of belonging through everyday objects: lampshades, wallets and doylies.
Black makes images using analogue processes and takes from personal archives; finding value in the tangible.
